DePaul's Merle Reskin Theatre was built in 1910 as the Blackstone Theatre. Owned and operated by The Theatre School at DePaul University, the theatre is home to Chicago Playworks, The Theatre School Showcase, and DePaul Opera Theatre of the School of Music. We share the space with others when possible.

Restrictions On Use Alcohol, food, drink are not allowed in the public spaces. All catering must be ordered from Chartwells at DePaul University. Receptions are generally not possible because there is no space large enough to accommodate more than 50 people.

How To Book

To inquire about availabillty, please submit a request via: http://theatre.depaul.edu/about/facilities/Pages/space_request.aspx All requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of your desired date.

Hours Of Operation The theatre is generally booked with our own performances throughout the school year. Please give us plenty of time to consider your request. It takes a month or two to generate an agreement.
Rental Policy We require a meeting with prospective renters which includes a tour of the theatre space. At the end of the meeting, we give you an estimate of costs, if the rental is possible. Estimates will include 4-wall rental rates, equipment rates and personnel rates. Please bring the organization's mission statement and event description to the meeting.
Cancellation Policy Per license agreement.
Open to last minute space requests. -

Miscellaneous We have a shared alley at the location of our loading dock, not at grade level. The alley is shared by the Renaissance Blackstone Hotel, Columbia College Chicago and the Spertus Institute. Only the main floor is wheelchair accessible with a restroom at grade.
